BIO

Kia ora tātou

He uri ahau nō Te Whānau ā Apanui, Ngāi Tai me Tainui.

I teach Māori Education (te reo me ōna tikanga) in Undergraduate Primary & Early Childhood Education programmes, as well as Secondary Graduate and Primary Graduate Diploma studies. I also tutor in Undergraduate Human Development studies.

My work is focused on second language acquisition, cultural competency, curriculum and te reo and tikanga Māori development.

My current research interests centre around compulsory language learning experiences of non-Māori students in te reo Māori, as well as broader interests in identity formation through language learning, Māori education and success.
