BIO
Dr Unaisi Narawa is of Fijian and Solomon Island ancestry. She joined Te Piringa Faculty of Law in 2023 as a Lecturer in Law and Convenor of Pacific Engagement. Unaisi studied at the University of the South Pacific (USP) where she completed undergraduate and post graduate qualifications in law, legislative drafting and tertiary teaching. Prior to joining Te Piringa, she was awarded a prestigious scholarship from The University of Queensland (UQ) in Brisbane, Australia and graduated in 2024 with a PhD. Her thesis titled 'Indigenous identity in Fiji: Na Vanua, Na Lawa, Na Kawa ni Bobula', explored the legal definitions and cultural expressions of indigenous identity in Fiji.
Unaisi has more than 15 years of academic teaching experience as a former Assistant Lecturer and Consultant Lecturer with USP, conducting both face to face and online teaching. She has also held positions in Nauru as Senior Government Lawyer (Legislative Drafting) for the Department of Justice & Border Control, and as Legislative Counsel for the Parliament of Nauru.
