I am an International Relations scholar whose research coalesces around the regional implications of great power competition, with a particular interest in EU, Russian, and Chinese foreign policies and the smaller powers (Ukraine and New Zealand) affected by these. I also engage in significant theoretical development, with a particular interest in neoclassical realism, securitization, relationality, multiplexity and te ao Māori conceptions of international relations and foreign policy. 

I have authored two books, EU-Russian Relations and the Ukraine Crisis and A New Cold War? Assessing the Current US-Russia Relationship, alongside over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles published in leading Q1 outlets such as International Affairs, The Journal of Politics, Review of International Studies, Global Policy, and The Pacific Review.
