BIO

Nicholas Eng is a senior lecturer in public relations at the University of Waikato's Management School. He teaches introduction to public relations and public relations campaigns at the WMS. His research investigates the interplay between message features and audience factors in shaping psychological and behavioural responses to messages about health and the environment. His recent projects have looked at how corporations communicate with both internal and external publics about their corporate social responsibility and advocacy efforts. Nicholas' research has been published in SCImago Q1 journals such as Public Relations Review, Corporate Communications, Journal of Communication, Health Communication, Environmental Communication, and Media Psychology. He is currently a 2025 Page/Johnson Legacy Scholar serving as a co-PI for a grant funded by the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication in the United States.

 

Prior to joining the University of Waikato, Nicholas was an assistant professor of public relations at the University of Georgia where he was inducted as a Lilly Teaching Fellow in 2024, and the recipient of the outstanding teacher of the year in public relations award in 2025.
