BIO

Associate Professor Nic Gill is Associate Professor of Human Performance Science and Coaching in the School of Sport and Human Movement at the University of Waikato. He is a leading applied sport scientist, performance coach, and academic whose work spans human performance, athlete development, and elite sport environments.

Nic holds a PhD in Exercise Physiology and has led and supervised applied research in sport science, strength and conditioning, and athlete performance. His work bridges research and applied practice, translating evidence-based insights into practical systems that support athletes, teams, and organisations to perform at their best.

Alongside his University role, Nic has more than two decades of elite high-performance experience. He is best known for his significant and long-standing contribution to the New Zealand All Blacks, including nearly 20 years in the All Blacks environment and a period of sustained international success that included Rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015.

In 2026, Nic was appointed Vice President of Health and Performance at the Baltimore Ravens. In this role, he leads integrated work across strength and conditioning, medical, nutrition, and sport science teams to optimise player health, availability, and performance.
