Monica is the Dau Ni Talitali - Pacific Engagement Manager at the University of Waikato, where she plays a vital role in strengthening relationships between the university and Pacific communities. Her work is centred on student success, cultural engagement, and strategic outreach, ensuring Pacific students are well-supported throughout their academic journey.

In her role, Monica leads initiatives to promote the University of Waikato within Pacific communities through cultural events, digital content, and strategic communication. She develops and maintains promotional materials that highlight Pacific student achievements and showcase the university’s commitment to Pacific learners.

Monica also oversees student support services, building and managing a network of Pacific contacts within the university and wider community. She leads the Pacific Staff Fono, coordinating efforts to improve student services, and provides pastoral care, advisory support, and scholarship programme management to help Pacific students thrive.

She collaborates with university teams and external stakeholders to align Pacific initiatives with broader institutional strategies and government equity priorities. Beyond engagement, Monica is responsible for operational planning, administration, and financial oversight of Pacific student support initiatives. She works closely with the Engagement team to maintain a database of Pacific community partnerships and ensures responsible financial management of university equity funds.
