Ko Waiaua, ko Te Awa o Tamatea, ko Ngaruroro, ko Waipa ōku awa koiora.

Ko Omarumutu, ko Waioweka, ko Waipatu, ko Pūrekireki Wīwī ōku rāta whakaruruhau. 

He uri ahau nō Te Whakatōhea, Ngāti Kahungunu me Waikato-Maniapoto. 

 

Mere is deeply committed to education, community contribution, whilst upholding intergenerational roles in lecturing, hospitality and volunteering in administration within Kaupapa Māori projects and /or kaupapa ā-iwi. Her profound connection to Kapa Haka has led her to take on various roles, including judging, as well as background coordination and MC duties at all levels. Mere's volunteer work with Te Matatini, Te Whare Haka o Tainui has involved stage and audience management, director of manaakitanga, showcasing her organizational skills and passion for people and performing arts. 

 

She has been actively involved with Te Wharekura o Rakaumanga, Te Roopuu Kapa Haka o Opotiki Mai Tawhiti and Te Kapa o Waioweka. Mere has made significant contributions to the advancement of mātauranga Māori, drawing on her depth of knowledge and expertise in the language. She is currently enrolled at Waikato University studying a Masters while lecturing Te Tohu Paetahi alongside her TTP whānau.
