BIO

Marcelle is a lecturer in Te Pua Wānanga ki te Ao - Faculty of Māori & Indigenous Studies based in Tauranga. Her research and teaching interests are founded on a firm belief of tino rangatiratanga (self-determination) and span the fields Māori and indigenous development, mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge), Māori identity and te reo Māori (the Māori language). Marcelle's doctoral research examines knowledge transmission methods of one of her marae, Paparoa. The research looks at knowledge transmission methods in the past, currently and what they can do to enhance these methods for future generations.
