I headed the conference organising committee for the 2023 Sociology Association of Aotearoa NZ (SAANZ) annual conference held at the University of Waikato in December 2023 at the Tauranga campus. This was a joint conference with the Social Work Association of Aotearoa NZ. I reviewed all abstracts for the sociology sessions, arranged speakers for plenary panels, keynote speakers, and created the website content. This included setting the theme for the conference and ensuring consistency and cohesion with the theme through the plenary sessions. I wrote the briefs for the panel sessions. I liaised with accommodation staff and caterers and made decisions in regard to printing, programming and chairing of sessions. Keynote addresses were open to the public, and koha collected at these sessions was donated to the NGOs/charities of the speakers' choosing.

I convened the conference organising panel for the 2015 SAANZ annual conference held at the University of Waikato in December 2015. I reviewed all abstracts, processed all registrations, arranged 6 speakers for 2 plenary panels and created the website content. This included setting the theme for the conference and ensuring consistency and cohesion with the theme through the plenary sessions. I wrote the briefs for the panel sessions along with introductory notes for the panel Chair. I liaised with accommodation staff and caterers and contributed to decisions in regard to printing, programming and chairing of sessions. Delegates included some from Australia, Canada and Indonesia. As a result of the conference we were able to make donations (cash and kind) to local community groups and a foodbank.
