I joined the University of Waikato in June 2026 as a Professor of Entrepreneurial Marketing. I also hold an Adjunct Professorship at the University of Ottawa (since December 2019). Prior to these roles, I have held faculty positions at different universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand.

 

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved with a range of research, teaching, and administrative duties. By way of example, while working at Loughborough University, I established and led the Wine Business Research Interest Group - which was comprised of 79 academics, practitioners, and PhD students from various countries. This group achieved key research successes - and work from this research centre continues to endure across different research projects.

 

I have also sat on several university committees (e.g., the University Research Ethics Committee and the School of Marketing and Strategy Research Committee at the University of Leicester, as well as the Faculty Research Interest Group Leaders Committee at Loughborough University), alongside having other informal and formal leadership roles. I am particularly interested in mentoring early career researchers to develop their academic portfolios.

 

I hold a BCom from Victoria University of Wellington (with a major in International Business and a minor in Management), an MBS from Massey University (specialising in Management), and a PhD from Loughborough University (focusing on Entrepreneurial Marketing). I also have a FHEA from Loughborough University that covered the pedagogical elements of my subject area.

 

Outside of work, I have returned to New Zealand with my wife - who I am grateful for encouraging me to maintain a work/life balance. Over the years, my hobbies have consisted of travelling (not least of which to wine-producing regions - linking with my research), ITF Taekwon-Do, playing and watching Rugby Union, and skiing.
