Hongming Zhang is a PhD candidate in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Waikato, New Zealand.

After ten years of industry experience as a software engineer, he moved to New Zealand and completed his Master of Information Technology at the University of Waikato in 2022. He commenced his PhD in Computer Science in 2023, where his research focuses on applying formal methods to model and verify interoperability issues in Internet of Things (IoT) systems.

Alongside his research, Hongming has worked as a Doctoral Assistant, supporting lecturers with teaching and assessment activities. More recently, he was appointed as a Postgraduate Tutor, providing tutorial support for fifth-year Computer Science and Software Engineering courses.
