BIO

With a clinical grounding in geriatric medicine (care of older people), my academic career has been in ageing education research. My PhD was in geriatric medicine curriculum innovation, development, and evaluation for undergraduate medical students in the UK. Since graduating, my research has broadened internationally and beyond undergraduate medicine, to postgraduate and multiprofessional ageing education. Over the years, my work has been recognised with Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, Membership of the Academy of Medical Educators, and awards from the Association for the Study of Medical Education and the University of Bristol.

I have enjoyed education leadership positions at the University of Bristol (lead for ‘Complex Medicine in Older People’, and co-lead for MBChB Year 5) and with the British Geriatrics Society (education and training representative). Alongside clinical and academic positions in the UK, I also have honorary appointments at the Universities of Queensland and Zimbabwe. I am a proud co-founder of the African Ageing and Geriatrics Network and the Geriatric Medicine Educators Collaborative.
