BIO

Professional Overview

I am a values‑based human services professional with over 30 years’ experience spanning public policy, communications, social justice, higher education, and student support. My work is grounded in equity, inclusion, and a strong commitment to placing people — particularly now students — at the centre of all decision‑making.

The first part of my career was spent in the Victorian (Australia) public sector, working in social justice–focused roles with a particular emphasis on violence and crime prevention, policy development, and advocacy for victims of crime. Education and communication roles in bi-lateral organisation roles dominated two years living in Lao PDR as well.

For the past 15 years, I have worked across a range of academic professional and teaching roles.

I currently work as a Accessibility Advisor in the Accessibility Services at Waikato University, where I support the development of inclusive systems and practices that make University study more manageable for students with disability and access needs. This role involves both individual student support and institution‑wide education and cultural change, helping embed accessibility and student‑centred design across the University.
