Ben is currently a doctoral researcher of human geography.

His current research is looking into aspec (asexual and aromantic) geographies and the scales at which compulsory sexuality operates in Aotearoa NZ. This research draws on geographies of sex and sexualities, queer geographies, and aspec studies

His Masters’ thesis explored social and economic responses to small town change in the context of Pātea (in South Taranaki). This research drew on diverse economies, small town geographies, and 'left behind places' literature.
