My current research focus is around the provision of affordable housing in New Zealand. Drawing on concepts developed under the umbrella of post-politics, my research investigates the ways in which the rhetoric and implementation of central government policy act to reinforce the norms of capital accumulation and erode expressions of democracy. My interest in conceptualisations of affordable housing underpins my engagement with understandings of homelessness in New Zealand.

I continue to nurture a long-standing interest in popular culture, a research agenda that manifests through engagement with work on popular music and contemporary sports. I am interested in the ways in which popular music adds to knowledge about people and places. Similarly, I hold that sport provides an avenue through which to engage with human geographies of production, consumption, place identity and community meaning.
