BIO

I am of Māori (Te Arawa) Tongan (Mo'unga'one) and Pākehā (Scottish, Danish) heritage with a strong affinity to Fiji through ancestral migration from Tonga to the Islands of Lau (Sawana).

 

I am a former primary school teacher currently working as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Waikato. My current PhD studies explore the identity construction of people of mixed Māori/Pacific heritage and the impacts of Education. My other research interests include intersectionality, Māori and Pacific Education, Indigenous studies, Pacific studies and the Arts with a particular focus on Drama. 

 

My teaching is centred predominantly within Māori and Pacific Education  andthe Arts (Drama) within the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Programs in Te Kura Toi Tangata- School of Education.
